A specialisation over the last thirty years has seen him carving a distinctive niche in the world of trees. He has travelled the length and breadth of the British Isles to photograph many of the country’s greatest and rarest trees as well as a huge diversity of woodland types. He holds an extensive library of tree images as well as an archive of historical tree images.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eArchie occasionally appears on radio and TV and delivers illustrated lectures to a wide variety of audiences. Previous books on trees include \u003ci\u003eSilva – The Tree in Britain\u003c\/i\u003e in 1999, \u003ci\u003eThe Hidden Trees of Britain\u003c\/i\u003e in 2007, \u003ci\u003eA Walk in the Woods\u003c\/i\u003e for the Woodland Trust in 2009 and \u003ci\u003eThe British Oak\u003c\/i\u003e in 2013. In 2006, he also wrote and photographed the tie-in book for a popular BBC2 TV series – \u003ci\u003eThe Trees that made Britain\u003c\/i\u003e (reissued 2021). In 2004, he was principal photographer and art director for \u003ci\u003eThe Heritage Trees of Britain and Northern Ireland\u003c\/i\u003e and in 2006 undertook the same roles for \u003ci\u003eHeritage Trees of Scotland\u003c\/i\u003e.
