Jackie Morris and Nicola Davies Nominated for 2026 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award
Award-winning Welsh author and illustrator Jackie Morris and acclaimed author and zoologist Nicola Davies have been nominated for the 2026 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, the world’s largest prize for children’s and young adult literature. With a five million Swedish Kronor prize, the award recognises outstanding contributions to children’s literature globally.
Jackie Morris, celebrated for her illustrations in Sarn Helen, has over thirty years’ experience creating books for readers of all ages. She co-created The Lost Words with Robert Macfarlane, which won the prestigious CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal, and was nominated for the IBBY 2024 Hans Christian Andersen Award, recognising her lasting contribution to children’s literature.
Nicola Davies is a nature-focused children’s author who won the Wales Book of the Year (Children’s) for Skrimsli and the Green Book Award for The Promise. She has also been nominated for the Carnegie Medal and Blue Peter Book Awards and currently serves as Children’s Laureate Wales (2025–2027), promoting reading and environmental awareness among young readers.
Both Morris and Davies have been repeatedly celebrated for their contributions to children’s literature, making their nomination for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award a natural continuation of their highly acclaimed careers.
