Our Dance Selected for Prestigious White Ravens Booklist

  • Hot on the heels of her Klaus Flugge Prize shortlist nomination, Circle Yuen has received another wonderful accolade, with Our Dance selected for the prestigious White Ravens 2026 catalogue.

Circle's beautifully illustrated Children's Picture book Our Dance follows a little girl that loves to dance, especially when her Mummy and Daddy dance with her, but these dances don't last long.

One evening Daddy leaves home and Mummy explains that they are separating and the family won’t be dancing together anymore. During the week the young girl lives with Mummy and on Saturdays she visits Daddy at a contact centre. The family now have two new dances, each one different but both as valuable as the other.

Written in collaboration with the National Association of Child Contact Centres, Our Dance is about separation and those places that enable parent and child to connect and come together.

The White Ravens is an international selection of outstanding books for children and young people, highlighting titles that demonstrate particular artistic quality, originality, literary merit or cultural significance.

To have Our Dance included in the 2026 selection is a fantastic achievement and an important international recognition of Circle’s work.

The news comes at an especially exciting time for Circle, who was recently shortlisted for the 2026 Klaus Flugge Prize for Our Dance. The prestigious UK award celebrates outstanding and exciting illustration in children’s books, making the shortlist another significant milestone for Circle and the book.

  • And the timing of the White Ravens announcement couldn’t be more fitting.

Isla McGuckin’s April’s Garden also published by Graffeg, was selected for the White Ravens 2024 catalogue, and now Isla and Circle are bringing their talents together for a brand-new Graffeg picture book, Oakie, which will be published in November 2026.

  • Congratulations to Circle on this fantastic recognition and we can’t wait to share Oakie with readers this autumn.
