The Bird Photographer of the Year annual publication is a curated collection of award-winning and shortlisted images drawn from an international photography competition, representing some of the highest standards in contemporary wildlife photography.

Each volume brings together work from photographers worldwide, capturing diverse species, behaviours, and habitats, often documenting rarely observed moments in the natural world. The publication functions as both a cultural record of excellence in wildlife photography and a tool for advancing understanding and appreciation of birds and their conservation.

Will Nicholls is director of BWPA and a wildlife photographer and cameraman. His previous television credits include working for the BBC, Plimsoll Productions and Silverback Films. He is also the founder of the popular nature photography online resource Nature TTL and has run the Bird Photographer of the Year competition for the last three years.
