Welcome to Maggie’s melting pot. From Nigeria to Wales via Essex, Maggie has lived a melting pot of experiences through food, starting with running Maggie’s Exotic foods, a business providing catering services, mainly focused on African, West Indian
and Latino foods. She ran three Sure Start Cafes in Essex; trained nannies, food service providers and young parents in food safety, catering and nutrition; taught money and home management to young families; ran The Melting Pot café in Penygroes, north Wales and authored international Gourmand award-winning cookbook The Melting Pot and its plant-based follow-up African Twist. Here Maggie shares some of these stories, packed with flavour, character and vibrance. The titles of the chapters reflect the highlights or significant moments along the way, and also included are interesting recipes that Maggie serves you Naija-style.

Published as part of the Quick Reads series.

Author Maggie Ogunbanwo is based in north Wales where she runs Maggie’s African Twist, selling predominantly African sourced or themed food products both on and offline. These days Maggie’s African Twist operates from The Red Lion in the village of Penygroes, surrounded by the beautiful Snowdonia countryside with its rich heritage and culture. Its roots however are deep in African soil, passed down through generations of instinctive, but highly gifted culinary masters who also doubled as mothers and grandmothers.
