Taking listeners' recommendations for children's adventure books, presenters Mishal Husain and Justin Webb welcomed Nuala, age 9, to discuss the exciting Molly and the Dolphins picture book.

Nuala says, "Molly loves going fishing with her dad on his fishing boat. One day, he gives Molly her own boat and she calls it The Mermaid. They see dolphins out at sea and one of them has a dot by its fin. Molly calls it Dot. Later on in the story, Dot has a baby. One morning, at the end of the summer, Molly is out alone and she gets lost. I shouldn't tell you the rest or I'll spoil it!"

Nuala continues, "I love this story because Molly is such an adventurous and enthusiastic girl. This is for any age and for people who love dolphins."

You can listen to Nuala on the BBC Radio 4 Today show from 2:53:59. Follow the link to listen: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0021qb7

Molly and the Dolphins

"Molly sailed The Mermaid around the harbour and out past the lighthouse. And it was so wonderful –just her and the sea!  Just Molly, the clouds and the sky and the sea!Just her and the birds and  her beautiful boat!"

Molly’s fisherman father makes her a little dinghy and teaches her to sail. Soon Molly is scudding over the waves, with a pod of dolphins leaping all around. She helps the dolphins when one gets tangled up in a fishing net. But what will happen when it’s Molly who needs help?

The dramatic and beautiful sixth book in this acclaimed series by an award-winning author/illustrator team sees young Molly take to the sea with joy, with confidence, and, as always, with kindness.
