Grandma has two watering cans which she takes with her to the greenhouse everyday.

One watering can is shiny, new, proud and perfect in every way, but the other one is old and leaky and would arrive at the greenhouse half empty.

The old watering can is ashamed of its leak, but when Grandma points out why she’s kept it all these years, the watering can realises that it has its own, very important purpose.

About the Author / Illustrator

Louise currently works as a designer for a London publisher. When she’s not sketching in a park or experimenting with her art materials, you might find her enjoying a dog walk or rummaging through a charity shop with a coffee in her hand.

Louise hopes her illustrations will evoke feelings of nostalgia and bring a sense of warmth and playfulness to reading for children and adults alike.

Reviews

I like this book about the old watering can, as even though it had a hole, it watered all the plants in Grandma’s garden and so many flowers grew. She gave those flowers to her friends and neighbours which they loved.

I like the tips at the back of the book to grow wildflowers. In summer, I love playing in my garden and watering my mum’s plants and seeing the flowers and fruit grow.

The brightly coloured pictures in the book are great and the Grandma in the book reminds me of my Grandma as she loves gardening too.

A delightful book about Grandma’s old watering can being really useful watering all the flowers in her garden. It is a great book for little ones to show them that old things are useful and to encourage children to take part in gardening and plant seeds.

It is a great idea having a space at the back of the book for children to draw their own Grandma’s garden. It is a beautifully illustrated book and you can really imagine yourself in Grandma’s garden. We loved it!
