Archival photograph taken from Lost Tramways of Wales: Swansea and Mumbles.

Caption reads: ‘Viewed looking north along Castle Street, in the foreground No 6 can be seen with a route 1 service to Morriston. This tram was one of 11 fully-enclosed lowbridge trams supplied by Brush in 1923.
Heading towards the photographer is No 68; this was a single-deck tram supplied new to the operator by Brush in 1914. Although the buildings on the west side of Castle Street seen in this view have all been replaced, the neo-classical building on the right, with the offices of the Royal London Insurance Co, is still extant.’

This range of prints derived from the Lost Tramways of Wales book series captures a range of fascinating historical street scenes from around Wales. Each provides a glimpse into the character and social history of these towns and cities during the early 20th century and the landmarks and familiar streets which have been transformed or maintained over the decades.

Captions by series author Peter Waller accompany each image, documenting the period, location and vehicles featured.

A beautifully presented item for all enthusiasts of Welsh history and heritage and an ideal gift.
